Take all those tiny wooden items you may have that are unpainted and give them an Americana theme to display in a group for Memorial Day and 4th of July. I hung all mine when finished on the pegs of this wooden wall rack. And displayed it outside on my porch.
Approximate Time: 30 minutes or less (allowing for drying time)
Supplies:
- small wooden items of any kind*
- acrylic paints in colors of red/white/blue and black for adding text
- raffia for easily hanging the items on the pegs added on with hot glue
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
- your rack to hang them from
- clear coat spray paint to seal it
*Mine were buckets, saws, hearts, birdhouse, fishing pole with fish and little clothes hanger
Instructions:
Paint all your items in the red white and blue colors starting at the top of each item painting with each color straight across, let dry.
Then add your text using black paint using a liner brush.
There are lots of Americana words to use just keep in mind the space you have on each item to do so. I wrote words like "USA" and "God Bless The USA" and "We love the USA" (the heart in the hanger served as the word love and I just added the words before and after it of We and then USA. And the fish hanging from the pole says "Caught in the USA."
Take small amounts of raffia strings and just hot glue it to the backs of each item in a loop for hanging on each peg.
Spray each item with clear coat spray paint to seal it at least 2 coats.
Display on any type item you have with pegs and enjoy for the Memorial Day and 4th of July Celebration.
