Craft Project: Recycled "Wave" Petunia Baskets

I bought my mom a basket of those Wave petunias. After I potted them, she said she hated to throw away that shocking pink plastic basket they came in. I got to thinking that they would make cute silk flower arrangements. You could use these to decorate tables for a bridal shower or garden club party and use them as door prizes. I also made a patriotic one with the terra cotta colored pots. You could use this for a BBQ or even a grave decoration for a veteran. Just drive a stake though the plastic to hold it down.

Craft Project: Craft Foam Purses

These little purses are made from craft foam. You could make other shapes than the ones I used. A fun summer craft idea to make for the girls.

Craft Project: Ribbon Headbands

I have tried three different styles of ribbon head bands. You will have to decide which one works best for you.

Use Old Books to Make a Handbag

I saw instructions on how to make a handbag out of an old book cover on the net - which intrigues me. You just cut off the cover and then it's lined, fabric sides added and put on a handle! I would line it with contact paper - to make it more resistant to stains, etc. And use a chain to make it a shoulder purse! You could also make other interesting boxes, etc. from the covers. Some of the old ones are so nice, I have bought them just for the covers! A funky evening purse? Thought I would share the idea.

Making Curtain Valances From Table Napkins

I thought of this cute idea for a kitchen or bathroom valance. I am using dinner cloth napkins and will fold them into triangle shapes and simply put them over any rod to make a great valance. I found some with a little fringe. Love the idea! Try it! It will be good to fold over and iron a crease for the rod and then tack in place with a stitch or two-or use iron-on hem tape.

Remove Sleeves to Make Summer Blouses

Recently, I saw a lovely blouse on a lady. I complimented her on it. She replied, "Thank You, I bought this along with several other blouses, at a sale, all having long sleeves, I took them home, cut the sleeves off and made me all summer time blouses." She most likely saved a lot of money by doing this.

Sponge Walls for a Dramatic Effect When Painting

Create a great new look for any room when painting. Use a clean kitchen sponge and dip into any shade of paint. It can be lighter or darker for a dramatic effect. Either sponge on the whole wall or any place; top near ceiling or along any part of the wall. Be creative! You can even use a gold or silver paint dabbed around! Have fun!

Editor's Note: Here is a post with more specific instructions on sponge painting. If you are very happy with how your walls turned out, be sure to post some photos!
