Ingredients:
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 3 cup sifted cake flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions:
Cream shortening; gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed of mixer. Add eggs to creamed mixture, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix after each addition. Stir in vanilla. POur batter into 3 greased and floured 9 inch round cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of cakes comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes; remove from pans, and let cool completely on wire racks. Assemble and frost as desired. Yield: 3 cake layers.
