This has always been a family favorite of ours for many many years.

1 large box orange jello
1 medium container cool whip
1 large container cottage cheese
1 large can mandarin oranges - DRAINED - reserve about 6 orange slices for garnish

Mix everything together (use the jello dry - do NOT add water)

Pour this mix into a bowl - garnish with remaining oranges

Chill until set - about 2 hours

VARIATIONS -- strawberry jello and frozen DRAINED strawberries may be substituted for orange stuff so now you have PINK STUFF! :)

OMG, my uncle's mom makes this stuff and I love it. She's been making it for YEARS and they usually bring me my own seperate container.

I hate cottage cheese, but I love this stuff. The cottage cheese doesn't taste like cottage cheese.

Sue, I originally posted this recipe a long time ago. I am glad you like it.

Yes sugar free jell is fine to use. In fact I use sugar free and or fat free ingredients in all aspects of this dish.

You can leave out the cottage cheese if you prefer. But try it first because it really doesn't taste cottage cheesy.

Is there anything i can substitute for the cottage cheese? Would softened cream cheese work? I don't like the taste of the cottage cheese. If cream cheese would work, how much would i substitute?

Thanks,

Linda
