Determining the Water Capacity of Top Loading Washer

Can anyone please tell me about how many gallons of water a top loading washer holds? I am trying to figure this out for a recipe I found online for homemade laundry soap. Thanks!

About 40 gallons depending on the make of the washer. Some may hold as many as 45 gallons and some with water saver may hold a lot less. Best bet is to contact the manufacturer and give them the type of washer you have. They should be able to help. Also look in the manual you received with the washer to see if that info in the manual.
