- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp. salt
- 4 1/2 Tbsp. shortening
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 4 3/4 cups flour
Scald milk and stir in the sugar, salt and shortening to cool. Sprinkle the yeast in warm water, stir until dissolved and stir in cooled milk mixture. Add 2 1/2 cups sifted flour, beat until smooth, stir in 2 1/4 cups flour, turn on floured board and knead, put into greased bowl, let rise 1 hour. Shape into rolls and rise 1 hour. Bake at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes.
