Car Buying Tip 5 - Write Down Everything

Write down everything you lean about the car, from the internet, magazines, and especially from the salesman. Why? Doing this keeps everybody honest, and literally "on the same page" - YOUR page! Your salesman will see that you are writing down everything he says, and he will be less inclined to lie, or to try to change information on you later on. This tip is all about staying in control.

Only what's written on the purchase contract is enforceable.

Your check off list is so that when you see the contract, anything left out is added, and not forgotten. You will be tired and confused. Writing things down is a job aid--to make sure the contract is complete.

So the salesman lies. Men always lie. You don't care. You have a memory list.

If the list isn't complete, walk. Stop at the doorknob and tell him how sorry you are because you really wanted to get the car tonight. Look really sad. Then walk. Always stop to look at a car or two.
