Let the Sunshine In
Many of us forget, especially those living in the northeast, to open those blinds, drapes, shades, etc. to take advantage of the free heat from the sun. It can shave off as much as 8 percent from your heating bill.

Besides that, it is a great "pick-me-up". Darkness can be do depressing! Open those curtains and blinds and let the sunlight in!
