Bring Baking Soda on Camping Trips
Take a box of baking soda with you on a canoe trip/camping. You can use it to clean your hair, as under arm deodorant, to brush your teeth, rinse your mouth or as a soap in the shower. You can also sprinkle it in your shoes at night or in your damp suitcase. By Cindy Haugland

Use Oven Cleaner to Remove Lawn Service Chemicals from Windows
We recently were cleaning our windows and found that chemicals from the lawn service were on some of the windows and would not budge with normal cleaners. Oven cleaner sprayed on did the trick and we now have nice clean windows. By Jean

Keep Squirrels out of Your Bird Feeder
If you have a bird feeder on a pole or post this can be pretty effective. Apply a coat of petroleum jelly to the pole or post that your bird house or feeder resides on. Squirrels won't be able to climb the pole or post.

Avocado Pits Grow into a Nice House Plant
After removing the pit from an avocado, don't throw it away. Wash the pit. Stick three toothpicks around the pointy upper third of the pit. Then fill up a jar water and rest the avocado pit on the rim with the large portion of the pit in the water and small portion above water. After five days, place the jar in a spot where the pit can receive sunlight. It won't be long before you see roots appears and leaves sprout. Once you have a healthy system of roots and several leaves you can transplant to potting soil. Water once a week.

Stopping at the ice cream stand getting too expensive? Buy a 1/2 gallon of your favorite ice cream and put out in small dishes: chocolate sprinkles, multi sprinkles, banana slices, chocolate sauce (or your favorite sauce). Let everyone pick their toppings. My grand kids look forward to this when visiting us. Our "ice cream social" is fun and very inexpensive. Happy eating. By Joesgirl

Need Help Creating a Sophisticated Bedroom
i am 23 and I need help decorating my bedroom. I want it to look sophisticated but represent my personality as well. Right now, my room is so plain, I have a canopy bed with light olive green and yellow drapings and a white bedspread. I also have this fantastic bright red and blue tapestry with an orange sun and moon in the middle of it and I really think it represents my personality. I want my room to be able to accomodate both styles. Should I just choose one? If so, what are some ways to do that? Clueless decorator, Angie from Missouri

My sister is turning 12 this weekend and we are sending her off to her Grandma's house. We only have two days and three nights to completely decorate her bedroom into a safari theme. Her room is also pretty small and it seems cluttered with an entertainment center, twin bed, and dresser. How can I make this room have a spacious safari theme using the items in her room? Also what do you think of putting her mattresses on the floor and outlining the bed (just the wall portion) with plushy decorated squares as a border? Angie from Missouri
