Roxy just turned 5 this year! We think she is a Husky mix. We got her from the Human Society! In the summer five years ago. She likes to run, play, and go on walks! She's the brightest dog we've ever had. She learns so quickly! You have to be sneaky because she knows certain words! She's learned to "go hide" shake, high five, play dead, roll over, jump through a hoop, speak, say "grandma", "I love you", and "Laura". Recently she decided she doesn't like picking up just the one toy you throw so she wont go get it unless you throw two so she can bring them both back! She loves people & smaller dogs. Sadie Mae is 4 and we have no idea what breed she is. Sadie was 4 weeks old when we got her. She was a part of a litter of 9 puppies that were abandoned under a barn. She definitely likes the dog park and playing with her tennis balls (catch and fetch) and tugging with her tug toys. Sadie is such a sweet and old soul. She is scared of everything but we continue to work with her daily. She is such a good big sister to our other dog and loves her 4 year old 'skin' brother too. Good dog! Here are some of my favorite money-savers for the bath: I keep a spray bottle of homemade cleaner in the tub; I use vinegar, a little dish soap, and, perhaps some "this and that". Immediately after showering, I spray the walls, shower curtain liner, tub, showerhead, and fixtures with this. When I'm ready to launder my linens, I use a "dirty" towel (they never get too dirty, since they are used on "clean" skin) to rub down the tub and tiles (and floor), then, it goes directly into the washer ; on the other days, I leave the cleaner on without a rub down. Have a spray bottle with 50/50 water-vinegar for spraying on my freshly shampooed hair, before final rinse. Another spray bottle has diluted "leave in "conditioner; I spray this on after towel-drying my hair. A small spray bottle holds Listerine; since I wear a night-time dental guard, I spray it with this antiseptic mouthwash before wearing it, and, in the morning, when I rinse and store it for the day. Personally, I appreciate the cinnamon-flavored mouthwash, like Lavoris. I put some in another small spray bottle. I added a couple drops of cinnamon and clove oils, and, this makes a potent mouth spray, rather than a gargle. If I want to use the rinse-out conditioner, I have some in a pump bottle. I pump a small amount of (at least) 50/50 diluted conditioner (about a half teaspoon for my medium length hair), into my hands, rub them together, and apply directly to my hair; no need to rinse out, since I use so little. All body wash and shampoo is diluted by at least 50-50. My favorite bath oil? Olive oil with a favorite essential oil added, if desired. Any vegetable oil will do, of course. I have a small squeeze bottle (hair-coloring bottles are great for any "squeezy” things!), for after-bath, after-shower, while my skin is still wet. A little goes a long way on wet skin without feeling too oily, after. I have a shower rod and curtain in one bathroom. I hang an additional spring type shower rod inside the tub; here is where I hang my towels to dry, after a shower, as well as my bath mat. In one bath, where there was a ledge above the tile, I had three curtain rods, since I would also air-dry wet laundry there. I would hang the laundry on hangers, then, arrange them on the rods. Of course this didn't work well when the bath was steamy, so, I would do this in "dry” times. About once a week, I toss my rubber bath mat into the washer with a load of laundry for a good scrubbing. For my favorite hair-drying towels, I tear an old bath towel in half, lengthwise. This makes a great "turban" for wet hair, and, it is not nearly as bulky as a full bath towel, nor as skimpy as a hand towel. These can be hemmed if you don't want to deal with inevitable unraveling threads. Working on breaking my shampoo-every-day habit, and, I'm handling every-other-day rather well; on my don't-shampoo days, I still like to thoroughly wet my hair (I'm a shower person, so it's easy), so, it has a freshly shampooed feeling. Since I appreciate fresh washcloths, I buy lightweight inexpensive ones by the dozen. Each evening, I was my face with a clean one, and, I use it the next morning for my shower; then, it goes in the dirty laundry. Personally, I prefer less heavy-bulky bath linens. They are also less costly and cheaper to launder and dry. I air-dry nearly everything, and, in FL, lightweight is better! At the end of summer, I'll buy a couple of clearance beach towels, since they make great bath sheets, and they are also lightweight and can be inexpensive, too. Only in my guest bath do I have matching linens; personally, that is not important to me, though it feels more attractive in a bath that visitors use. Keeping Cool During Hot Weather This tip is about keeping cool while being outside in triple digit temps. I wet my cotton sleeveless shirt in refrigerator cooled water and do the same with a kingsize cotton pillow case. I wrap it around my neck, then tuck inside (looks cool if you match them together). Wet your hair in cool water, I do a ponytail and a white material head visor from the .99 cent store. I have a small spray bottle with cool water at the ready. I also site outside in the shade and soak my feet in cool water. I like being outside and this makes a huge difference. By Pamela from Sun Lakes, AZ Contest Contender!

Email Yourself Important Notes Instead of having a lot of little pieces of paper with important notes lying around on my desk, I send an email to myself with the important information. Then I create personal folders in my email so I can file each email in its appropriate folder. This helps me to stay organized. By Rachel's Mom Contest Contender!

When my husband and I were struggling to pay for prescription drugs we contacted the pharmaceutical companies directly. They had us fill out a very brief financial statement (not too detailed) and they then sent us the medication for FREE. Pfeitzer was one of them. I believe if you go to their website you'll see how to do this. They usually will send the medication to your doctor to be picked up as I don't believe they can send it directly to you. You can also ask your doctor for free samples if you don't have prescription drug insurance. This was a huge help to us as my husband had cancer. By Chef4u from Sylvania, OH Contest Contender!

Here is a nice scrub I made that is not only simple, but inexpensive and takes minutes to prepare. This would be a nice summer gift or a treat for your own feet! Ingredients
DirectionsMix everything in a bowl and store in a container that is not see-through (or very dark like an amber glass/plastic jar). To use, just scrub on feet, rinse and pat dry. Apply lotion afterward. *If you do not add the vitamin E, the oil will go rancid quickly. If you do not have vitamin E, just store the mixture in the fridge. Grapefruit Seed Extract is also a good preservative. Source: My own recipe taken from my blog thefrugalvegan.wordpress.com By freya1970 from Halifax, NS Contest Contender!

Rate It: Weaned Kitten Trying to Nurse on Sibling My kitten is three weeks old. She is weened and is always hungry. I put her next to her brother one day and she bit his belly, hard. I grabbed her and stuck her in a cage, sprayed her with water and went to comfort the brother. I left her in the cage for a day or two, then let her in to see her brother again, and she bit him again. I hit her hard on the head and sprayed her with water, and she cried and cried, but I left her there. Then I once more let her in with her brother and he snapped at her. She didn't bite him though, she kneaded him like she was nursing, but there was no nipple, so she bit him. I don't know what to do. Help. Use It or Lose It
I'm sitting on a jackpot, and I didn't realize it until a rainy week inspired me to clean my office closet. Over the course of this year I had easily purchased fifteen boxes of thank you cards for $3 a piece. Yet, there in my closet sat a neatly organized box of blank cards, more than a hundred of them. Further organizing found varying leftover craft supplies and art supplies, easily enough to have made all the posters and projects that my son created this year for school.
