Slice Storebought Cookie Dough Before Unwrapping
I bought cookie dough for the first time and found slicing it messy and the slices broke easily so I tried slicing unwrapped rolls and it was much easier for me.

I usually freeze the cookie dough for an hour and then unwrap and slice it. This works really well.

You could also use a piece of fishing line or a cheese slicer
