Cream margarine and 1 cup of sugar. Beat in eggs, vanilla and milk. Sift together flour, salt, soda, and baking powder; stir into creamed mixture. Stir in chopped apples. Spoon 1/2 batter into greased 9x5 inch pan.
Combine brown sugar, nutmeg, 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar, cloves, and cinnamon. Spoon 1/2 of brown sugar mixture over the batter. Spoon in remaining batter and sprinkle remaining sugar mixture over top. Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour or until done.

This bread is so delicious and great to have for when company comes. It makes two loaves. If you do not need both you can freeze one for later. I think this is my favorite bread out of all my bread recipes!
Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Blend well. Then for 4 minutes beat at medium speed with mixer. Pour into pans and bake 50-55 minutes. Bake until tooth pick comes out clean, and bread begins to pull away from the sides.
Cool in pans 15 minutes, then remove and finish cooling on rack. Enjoy!
