Save postage on gifts that go long distance by giving gifts that qualify for media postage, which is much less than regular parcel post. Media postage can be used for dvds, cds, books, tapes, movies--information that doesn't contain advertisements can usually go media rate. Check with the post office for more details. This rate is not available at UPS, just the postal service.

Sounds like a good idea; however just be sure to allow that video, CD, book etc to have plenty of time to arrive as Media Mail is cheaper but also SLOWER!
