I would like ideas for a Christmas Parade Float. The theme is "Rocking Around the Christmas Tree". We are a Baptist Church in town, so of course we would like something to do with church and/or Jesus in our themed float. Any ideas out there?

How about putting a Christmas tree on the float and have the children dress up as presents, and walk along side the float all you need is boxes that are wrapped with wrapping paper and a nice bow.

We did Rocking Around the Christmas Tree two years ago but this was not set as a Biblical view. We decorate the trailer as the 50's with records and musical notes and the girls dressed up in poodle skirts, jeans and white shirt with a scarf for the neck and ponytails. The boys wear a leather jackets or white t-shirt an roll up the sleeves greased their hair and comb it back. And some boys brought some play guitar and rock it them side to side.

The best part one of our staff dress up as a Christmas tree made out of two green round table cover decorated with ornaments gold garland and ornaments as earrings and a star on a headband for the treetop. We won first place that year.

We are having some of the same problems with our church float. We will always use our Biblical view for our float, but it is very hard to make it flow with the theme.

This was an idea I had for this years float in our parade -
Make a giant tree and elevate it off the trailor - under neath it you can do your manger scene (we always have little kids portraying Mary & Joseph)! This will look like Jesus is our gift for Christmas - now to put in the Rockin around the tree part - You could play upbeat music Christian music- and have the other by standers looking on to the baby Jesus - they could be dancing etc

Just the first thing that came to mind with this theme and still representing your beliefs!

Hope it helps a little

I know this sounds silly but I think it would be fun and make people smile. How about a Christmas tree in the middle with people all around it in rocking chairs or rocking horses or any other rocking thing.

First thing that came to my mind was the nativity with Mary in an old fashioned rocking chair holding Baby Jesus. Maybe some trees covered in stars around the scene?

How about actually dressing up as rocks and dancing around a tree?

You could do a play on words and have baby Jesus "rocking" in a cradle or Mary's arms by an xmas tree.
