A good friend worked as a veterinarian's assistant for many years. It's what the vet used. She recommends putting Vicks in the ears. It will smother the mites and prevent/eliminate any infection caused by the little marauders.

Both my dog and cat get ear mites. This recipe was given to me by our vet. Works awesome!

Mite Ear Wash
1/4 cup warm water
1/2 tsp. boric acid...Available from the pharmacist, just ask, very cheap and lasts forever.
2 drops tea tree oil
1/4 cup white vinegar
2 drops dish detergent

Use once a day by soaking a couple of cotton balls in the solution, squeeze a little excess out, then press it into the pets ear and fold the ear flap over and move the flap in a circular motion...like a massaging movement! Take the cotton ball out and let them shake. I sometime wipe out the mites I can see with the cotton ball. Use every day for one week and once a week thereafter.

Take your cat to the vet for a correct diagnosis. Mites left untreated, or not properly treated, can cause balance problems and possibly even deafness.

I would think so. I have used mineral oil with a cloth to clean them out. I wouldn't use a q-tip tho. Don't want to go too deep

Hi,
I would take your fur baby to his/her Veterinarian. Your doctor. will take a sample and put it on a slide and check for ear mites. Ear mites are treatable. Please do not put anything in your cat's ears unless instructed by a doctor. I have worked for a Veterinarian for over 27 years. I hope this helps.

Probably.. Smell them, and if they have a stink to them they are for sure ear mites. Treatments are really cheap, try any store that has pet supplies. Good luck!

Ok..this might sound funny to you. But coat the inside of your cat's ears with vegetable oil. This will help. Good luck!
