Fish Theme Bathroom

I decorated my bathroom "fish theme" spent less than $5 on paints by using the basic colors red, blue and yellow and mixing them up to get secondary colors. I also purchased 1 yard of light blue and 1 yard of a darker blue and sewed them together it to make the curtains.

Lance (Lab X - A New Family Member)

Last week Sasha, Silver and Steel received a new "brother" named Lance. Of course Lance was found in a shelter in Sacramento. He wasn't feeling well and able to be released to him new home right away. My daughter-in-law and son went to visit and work with Lance after work to get him ready for his new family. He is so sweet and a great addition to the family. I thank the ThriftyFun family for the wonderful comments on this family of pets. You are all special to me!

Frugal Rubber Duck Baby Shower Idea

On July 3rd, I had a baby shower for a Niece. Being on a tight budget I have to STRETCH every dollar. She loves RUBBER DUCKS for the baby, so I chose this as a theme.

Plates, cups and napkins came from the Dollar Tree as did Tablecloths and miniature candy bar favors, for which I made outer labels saying IT'S A BOY!!

I molded tiny candy favors in the shape of Ducks. The stuffed animals and toys were all bought from yard sales and thrift stores. Invitations were made and printed using 33 cent cardstock paper and embellished with 33 cent ribbon. Total cost of decorating supplies and favors is $21.

I will bake and decorate a Suzi's Zoo cake and a sheet cake, which will cost about $5 and punch will probably be around $6. ESTIMATED GRAND TOTAL $32.00. PROOF that you can host a nice baby shower for under $35.00!

Jigsaw Frame
By Teri Clark

Jigsaw puzzles are a lot of fun, but in a house with children, they are not likely to last very long. Before you know it, several pieces are lost. Don't throw away that old puzzle - use it to create a wonderful frame!

Baby Oil After a Shower

After taking a shower use a little baby oil (the cheapest is still the best!) and then pat yourself dry. You'll be amazed at how much faster your skin will become moist and soft. Also, to prevent any falls, always rinse the tub after your done to rid any excess oil that might be there on the bottom of the tub.

Dryer Sheets To Clean Tubs

Use a dryer sheet to clean the grime off of the sides of the bathtub. It works great. The texture of the dryer sheet, combined with the fabric softener in the dryer sheet helps lift away any nasty tub ring instantly!

Baking with Cheese

When baking a dish with a melted cheese topping (such as lasagna), which needs to be covered with aluminum foil for at least part of the cooking time, I always spray the foil with non-stick cooking spray. This way, I won't lose half the cheese because of it sticking to the foil.

Removing a Splinter

To remove a splinter, simply apply some Elmer's glue over the splinter. After the glue dries, peel it off and the splinter will often come out also. This is especially helpful on children who are frightened by tweezers and needles. Our family relies on this method of splinter removal as it is painless.

Greasing Pans

If you are making a recipe that requires you to grease the pan and one of the ingredients is oleo (margarine). I grease the pan with the oleo wrapper. There is always some that sticks to the paper when unfolding the oleo. Saves time and money.

Family Pictures on My Kitchen Wall

I came up with a neat idea for my kitchen. I really love my pictures (of family and friends who visit our ranch) but I am not sure how to follow through with my idea. I want to make a collage on my kitchen wall of black and white pictures that I have scaned off my computer. I need to know if regular paper will work (no sunlight hits this wall) and what to cover the pictures with so I can still wash the wall. If I need to use my photo prints I will but I still want to be able to wash the wall. Any ideas would be helpful.

Carpet Color For a Beige Room

I just finished painting my living room a medium beige color and the existing blinds are a few shades lighter of the same color. Now I need to pick out carpeting. I will eventually be buying new furniture, so that isn't limiting my choices to match. My kitchen is teal/beige with accents of rust and deep red. What color of carpeting would look best and what kinds of color accents could I use in my livingroom?

Dying or Painting Stained Cloth Seats?

I've been thinking about trying something different with my cherry wood dining chairs with white cloth seats. Over the years, I've had several stains that I couldn't get out no matter what I tried.

Rather than bleaching, recovering or anything else with the seats, I thought maybe I could use some kind of dye, coloring or paint/stain to put a multicolor print on them. Is there some kind of dye or paint I could use to color the stained white cloth? It would be very unique, bright and pretty.

I just worry that whatever I use may eventually begin wearing off on people's behinds if I don't use the right stuff!

Any guidance?

Thanks :)

Kids Drew All Over My Vinyl Couch and Stool

I have a vinyl couch and vinyl foot stools. My problem is during a party the kids somehow managed to write graffitti all over it with blue, black and red permanent marker and ball point pen. The stubborn stains will not come out. I have tried all home remedies and what products are avaliable to me. My problem is i live in Korea and for some reason they have no idea or clues or helpful advice.

Sneaky Chewer

We found a QueenslandX dog about 9 months old that no one claimed. We are trying not to take her to our high kill animal shelter but she is a chewer. I mean she chews EVERYTHING - even takes a loaf of bread off kitchen table - cat toys, furniture, clothes, you name it.

She grabs the items when no one is in the room and then takes it outside or in a corner and chews it when no one is around. We find it later and you can't punish her when you can't catch her at it! She howls, barks, scratches, etc if you try to lock her in a room or even in the backyard away from us.

Otherwise, is a good dog, great with cats. HELP!

Hair Removal Before Puberty

I was wondering... Would it be a good idea to start early to use Bladeless Hair Removal system on an 8 year old girl who is starting to show dark hair growth on legs, to maybe, deter or make hair weaker and less noticeable when she goes through puberty?

Would this deter or encourage hair growth?

I ask, because I was very hairy at that age, on my legs and arms and always felt embarrassed around other girls, because of it, when they asked, why I was so hairy.

Would starting before puberty retard hair growth or waiting after puberty?

Does anyone know, or ever inquired with a doctor?

Decorating My Backyard "Hang Out"

I am 14 years old and very recently my dad built me and my friends our own "house type thing" in my backyard. It is basically one room that is 12' by 16' and it's all up to me and my friends to decorate it however we want to. I was thinking about making it like a trendy living room and hangout room.

We will get power in it and have TV and lights. Basically I want to go all out on this project and want to make it the best it could be. It is just so hard to get a color scheme and everything going. I was wondering if you could help me.

Making Pickles From Cucumbers

For those of you that can and make pickles I have a question. I never seem to be able to harvest enough cucumbers in one day to make a pack of dill pickles. Can I save them up in the fridge until I have enough?

Most recipes seem to call for cucumbers picked that day. Also, does anyone have a really good recipe for CRUNCHY dill pickles? Years ago I made some from my aunts recipe and it seemed like they weren't processed in a water bath like all the recipes I now see, and they were very crunchy, they were soaked in ice water over night.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone may have.
