Jicama con Pepino y Chile |
| By Christina C. Keimig |

A popular snack here in Mexico that can be bought on
many street corners or (more safely!) easily prepared
at home is any kind of fruit with chili powder, salt,
and lemon juice. I've described how to prepare one of
my favorite combinations here.
- 1 jicama
- 1 cucumber
- chili powder (chile piquín/chile de árbol)
- 1-2 lemons (3+ Mexican limones)
- salt to taste
Peel and slice up the jicama and cucumber. Sprinkle
with chili powder and salt to taste, then squeeze
lemon juice over the whole thing, also to taste.
We like lots of lemon on ours so we can mix it up once
in a while and recoat the whole mess! We also like to
let it marinate for a bit before serving, but it's not
absolutely necessary.
Enjoy!
