This request is for all the single guys that read this site. I am trying to online date. I pay the fees to join. I get email from guys, I email them back, they email me and than I'll email them and than NOTHING. Whats up with that? Ive been online dating for nearly 2 years. I've tried different sites. Anything else I should be doing or not doing?

Thanks,
Laurie

Here are some do's and don'ts for online dating. Have a look at it and see if you are going about it properly:

Okay, you have probably heard this one before. Go to church! No matter the flavor, you will usually find good upstanding people. These people, if not for you, will keep you in mind for their sons, friend's sons, neighbor, etc. Also, keep this phrase in mind. "You find what you look for." It has helped me many times. It helps me get out of negative moods.

Another thing you can try is volunteering. The paper usually has a few announcements for what they need. There used to be a few singles websites that offered community service projects. Singles would get together and clean up streams, or plant trees. No pressure to hook up tho most would afterwards if only for a drink or meal and companionship. That is one way to get to know someones personality. Are they a slacker, do their fare share, a leader, a complainer, etc.

Just some ideas. Good luck.

Hi Laurie,
This is just an idea you can try. Go back into the dating sites and fill out the form looking for FEMALES. In your profile explain that you aren't a lesbian, just looking for compatible pen-pals who might know of any available men that they know & trust. Meeting strange men over the internet is a scary & risky venture, despite all the success stories. It is much safer to be introduced to a man from someone who knows him & can vouche for his personality and safety.
Good luck sweetie, all good things come to those who wait.

Dear One, I have had exactly the same problem with online matches. I have spent money on them and feel that I totally wasted my money. I have tried M.com and EH...and could tell you some funny tales, albeit disappointing though. One guy actually sent me a picture of his dog who'd passed over and then a picture of his ex-wife(!?!?)...I've had 0% success as far as I'm concerned and they are super expensive. Now, I am relying on prayer completely for God to send me my one-and-only. Good luck, my dear. An anonymous friend

I met my husband online over 7 years ago. My suggestion is to write to guys in threes. One you'll never hear back from, one will do what you mentioned in your original post, and one will write back and be a pen pal to you. Who knows how that one will turn out?!

I agree. Also, get out there and do things in order to meet people. I met my husband while I was mowing my lawn with a reel mower -- baggy dirty clothes and soaking wet with perspiration and hair a mess (and it didn't scare him away)! He was staying with a neighbor for a few weeks while he was in town. You never know where or how you might meet that perfect someone. Don't limit yourself to online dating! Doing things you care about and enjoy will let you meet guys with similar interests so you have at least one thing in common.

I have the same feedback....I met my husband on Match.com. We've been happily married for over 5 years.

Just keep trying. You just need to find the right man and don't want to waste your time on the wrong ones. So let the wrong ones ignore your emails. The RIGHT one will WRITE back!
