This is off topic a bit but I have a peach tree in my yard in western iowa and am having trouble getting it to produce The first year i lived here i had lots of peaches last year it didnt produce a single one this year so far only maybe a handfull any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
Add an apple to the bag. Apples release ethylene gas which ripen other fruits quickly. I do this to ripen other fruit like avocados and plums and nectarines, too.
Put them at room temp with apples or bananas. They both will ripen a lot faster.
Put a tomato in the bag. It should be ready in a day or so. I did that by mistake! lol
Don't buy them rock hard, buy them with a slight softness to them. Be sure to watch how the cashier handles them, too (some cashiers don't care and will toss them, leaving you to have a bruised mush of a peach at home). By not buying rock hard peaches, they'll be ready to eat soon, not within days or weeks.
While growing up, we used to have peach trees. If some were picked too early or blown off or knocked off the tree while still green, my Dad would put the unripe peaches on the kitchen window sill. The sun would ripen them in a few days.
Place a banana in the bag with them they will ripen in half the time.
