This is Myatuk , he is a 7 year old Alaskan Malamute, that as you can see enjoys warmer climates as well. We got him as a 9 week old puppy and have spent many hours training each other. Like most mals he isn't into games and formal obedience but is very clever. His favorite thing is going for runs in the woods and stopping in the daisys for a rest.

Today's Tips
I have Dorothy original curtains. Some cover triple windows. When correcting mistakes and taking the bow off it leaves horrible wrinkles. Rather than taking them down and washing and ironing, I spray with fabric softener water and let hang for 1/2 day. Also after arranging I spray starch on ruffles and they stand out as if I have starched and ironed them.

Keep Reconstituted Dry Milk Handy
Always keep a quart of reconstituted non-fat dry milk product mixed up with water in the refrigerator, ready to use in cooking. Label clearly. Then you can save on having to use regular drinking milk for cooking purposes. Much more economical.

Animal Feed at Day Old Bread Store
Here is such a money saver you need people to share with! If you go to a day old bread store and ask if they have any "Animal Feed" racks of bread for sale. You can get an entire rack of bread, buns, rolls, snack cakes, tortilla's, chips, etc. for 5.00. If they say no, ask when the best time is to get one. They won't sell it for human consumption though.

Mike & Joan were having some problems at home & were giving each other the 'silent treatment'. But then Mike realized that he would need his wife to wake him up at 5 a.m. for an early morning drive with some pals to play golf.
Not wanting to be the first to break the silence (and lose the 'war'), he wrote on a piece of paper, "Please wake me at 5 a.m."
The next morning, Mike woke up, only to discover it was 9 o'clock & that his friends had left for the golf course without him. Furious, he was about to go and see why his wife didn't wake him, he noticed a piece of paper by the bed.
The paper said, "It's 5 a.m. Wake up."

Rebates, Medical History, Job Applications... Neatness Really Counts!
Whenever you fill out an application, a rebate, address an envelope or write down your medical history remember, someone has to read it and enter it into a computer. For addresses if possible, put a mailing label on so mistakes are minimized. If you write all or part of it then here are some suggestions:
1. Take the time to print carefully.
As one who has worked with typing in people's addresses, I assure you it makes a HUGE difference. Where I was, if it couldn't be read easily, the form got shuffled off to a problem file where a supervisor handled it, thus delaying the application.
2. Don't use city abbreviations.
Realize that the person reading may be in a different part of the country and abbreviations may not be obvious to them. The person typing in Vermont might not recognize "FT.W" as "Ft. Worth" Write "Wilmington," not "Wilm."
3. Always use the two letter abbreviation for your state.
The person typing in Oklahoma might forget if Maine is abbreviated "MA" or "ME" or if Arizona is "AR" or "AZ." The two-letter code is easier than if you write out the full name of your state.
4. Always include your zip code.
If a form comes in without it, it gets put in the problem file for someone else to figure out.
5. Be very careful when printing numbers.
Make it a clear 6. Make sure your 7 doesn't look like a 4, and your 1 doesn't look like a 7. A 5 can look like an S at the end of an address -- 773 S as in "south" vs. "7735"
6. Above all, print CAREFULLY.
It pays off to take an extra moment to write it carefully.

This tip is for families living on one income with school age children. We have a limited budget and every year the elementary school takes 2 sets of pictures for the parents to purchase. One in the fall and the other in the spring.
I've discovered that if you volunteer to help the photographers with the children, combing their hair, tying shoes, matching up the order forms with the correct child, etc. that the picture company gives the volunteers their child's picture package for free. Check with your school's PTA volunteer coordinator and the school's picture company to see if your school participates in this. It only is for a few hours twice a year, and it can save you up to $70.00 per school year!

Add the soup to the noodles. You can be real creative. Add 1 lb. browned sausage instead of all hamburger if you like. Add pepperoni, olives, or other pizza toppings. Layer in a casserole dish, alternating with the noodle-cheese soup mixture and the hamburger mixture. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Remove and cover with mozzarella cheese. Bake uncovered until cheese melts.

I am in a panic... well, not quite, but pretty soon if I don't find what I need.
I am making a formal dress for my 15 year old for her "school formal". I bought a Simplicity Pattern 5238. The dress C is a 1950's style strapless bodice, with a medium full skirt, all one piece. The problem I am having is finding the right material. I've found the material for the dress itself, but it has a sheer type black polka dot material overlay over the entire dress.
I've looked everywhere in Western Australia for the material but can't find it here. I am in the process of searching fabric stores in other states, but it's not easy. Trying to describe what we want over the phone isn't easy either. I've decided to "let my fingers do the walking" as the Yellow Pages ad says...lol A lot cheaper than driving around all day like I did one day and found absolutely nothing.
It has to be sheer enough to show the colour of the dress fabric underneath, but must have a polka dot or some sort of stylish patterned tulle or sheer organza... but it can't be stretch.
I'm so determined that she will get this dress that I'm even prepared to find the fabric in the US if I have to.... She had her heart set on this dress and I don't want to disappoint her. I can make it so much cheaper by doing it myself.

Keeping Mildew From Coming Back
I would like to know how to keep mildew from forming on my walls, especially in the winter time. It really makes a mess, and it's hard to clean as well, especially behind the beds and dresser. Is there anything I can do to keep it from coming back next year?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

I can buy stepping stones from my local garden store but not only are they expensive, but they are either boring or don't have the designs that I want.
I've seen some fantastic designs on a search I did on the internet, using footprints and a scripture verse, but my question is, how can I make a mould when I don't even have a template to begin with?
Once, years ago, when we built our first house, the manufacturer of large, stamped square concrete slabs, went bankrupt, interupting the production of them. We were buying them little by little. They had a design of a Roman cartwheel and when 4 of them were put together it formed a complete wheel.
Anyway, my hubby decided if we were to finish it he would have to make them himself. He brushed one with engine oil, and made some wooden forms to go around it, making sure the forms were raised higher than the slab. He then make a batch of concrete up, and spread it over the slab... He then was able to make a mould of that design.
However, I don't have a design to go by and I don't want it to look like scratches in the concrete.
Does anyone have any idea of how I could do this. The footprint side of it is pretty easy.. I'll get my 10 y.o. to make her mark... she'll love it... but it's the writing that will be harder. If I'm making a mould, would I have to reverse the writing, so that when I make the mould, it will be the right way around?
This is all too confusing for my brain...lol
We have just landscaped our front garden and we are not having any lawn at all... Just mulch and plants, with some sort of stepping stones in the middle. I don't want to use wooden stepping stones, because my area is prone to termites and I don't want them anywhere near my house. Treated pine isn't good either, as I have planted some strawberry plants out the front.
Any ideas would be great. Thanks
Bev in Australia

Family Feud - Dog and Cat Fighting
I have many animals. Two of these animals cannot get along very well, my dog (a Lhasa Apso mixed w/ Scottish Terrier and Jack Russel Terrier, 4 years old) Misty and my cat (long haired marmalade tabby 9 years old) Butterpatch.
As for Misty, well, she tends to chase my cat outdoors while indoors she is as harmless as ever. Butterpatch does not like Misty at all and has every bit of power over her--yet he does not use it.
Does anyone know how to stop them from fighting?
We have had a few dogs before Misty, one was Sophie (a German Sheperd and ???) who was young and always chewing things. Luckily, none of those things was Butterpatch, but one happened to be my little Rooster Chicken named Sunny. We had five chickens, 2 roosters and 3 hens--Sunny was eaten before he could see his permanent home. Another dog was the most recent, Hank. He was a Border Collie/Pointer/Lab. He loved to lick and bark--and bite. Fortunately, they were only friendly bites and any bite he issued was NOT to my cat. He was virtually unharmed.
Thanks so much,
Natalia--Austria-Colorado
