Lime Green Wedding Cake with Fresh Flowers
Lime Green Wedding Cake with Fresh Flowers
Just wanted to share a picture of my daughter's wedding cake. I really was concerned about the lime-green color, but it turned out very pretty. The live flowers made it beautiful and super easy.

My friend is making a wedding cake like yours and is needing to know what color did you use to make the lime green icing? Is it a paste or what?

Aren't there some concerns regarding the use of fresh flowers on food, especially when I think I read that they came from Wal-mart? Coming from Wal-mart would most definitely mean that they didn't get them from an organic supplier, thus the likelihood of them having been treated with pesticides and/or other hazardous chemicals is almost a certainty and unlike vegatables, one would not be able to wash the blooms of the flowers. Just seems sort of risky to me.

Wow this is the wedding cake I want when I get married. I want both those colours and now this will be the perfect cake. How many people does the cake serve?

I have been away from my computer for a couple months now. Thanks for all the feedback. The icing is buttercream. My sister decorated the cake. She is talented. She used to do it for the public, but it just takes so much time & she hated to charge what it is worth. I baked the cake to save her time since she & her husband are in business for themselves (tractor sales). I bought the pans @ Michaels which sells all sorts of hobby items (like Hobby Lobby). I bought the fresh flowers @ Walmart. I bought them the morning of the wedding & kept them in the refrig. @ the reception hall. When my sister brought the decorated cake, she placed the flowers on. She puts clear wrap around the stems to protect the cake from any thing getting mixed in with the icing. Thanks again for all the input! I love this website. Wish I had more time to enjoy it.

Oh my goodness, this is the cutest wedding cake I'd ever seen. The roses accentuate the color of the cake nicely. It's just as well too; the colors of my wedding are most likely to be green and pink! I hope you don't mind if I use your adorably cute idea! But since I might have more family members at my wedding (my family is insanely huge, we have close to 1500 people) I may need to make several of these cakes and maybe in different colors! You see, I plan on having a completely non-traditional wedding. I'll be wearing a wedding kimono (they are beautiful, you simply must google one, if you have the time) and of course, the colors are most likely to be green, pink, and white. That cake fits in perfectly, and is just too cute. I'm a college student right now, but it's never too early to plan your wedding, right?

I watch "Ace of Cakes" on satellite tv, I sit in awe just watching them make these wonderful cakes. I love the lime green color. I have to admit, I've never seen a cake this color, it's not bad. I admire you daughter for 'taking the leap' & choosing this color for the cake. Best of Luck on their marriage!! Thanks for sharing the photo!!

Wow I love it. What did you use for icing? and where can I find baking pans that size for the larger bottom layer?

Any suggestions on where to purchase fresh flowers if you're a city dweller? Can you get them in regular flower shops?--I understand a lot of flowers sold in shops are sprayed with chemicals.

Is this iced with Marzapan? I've never used it and have seen a CoOp mom decorating her cakes with it, saying she used to work in a bakery. It's smoothe and lovely. How does it slice? Forty five year ago I had my wedding cake with fresh flowers on it, too.
It saves a LOT of time and isn't any harder to remove than decorations of ANY kind, looks great!

Congrats! God bless you. : )

Wow, I am amazed at how pretty it is. I didn't think lime green would look good, but yours is one of the best looking wedding cakes I've ever seen!
