I would like to know if anyone can help with a laundry problem. I take my red, maroon, and pink clothes to my mother's to wash because when I wash them at my house I get a navy blue streak on them. This has happened to towels, shorts, t-shirts, you name it. We are on well water, and she is not. Any help would be appreciated!

It sounds like your laundry soap or fabric softner maynot be dissolving completely in your machine .. which could be caused by your well water. Although I'm not sure why it would just be on one color. We had the same problem here with our VERY hard well water and I've found that adding 1/2 cup borax (available with the laundry soaps in the store) helps to dissolve the detergent.

Hope something works for you! I can't imagine how frustrating this would be.

Rebekah

PS .. One more thought .. try calling your local extension office or Dept. of Natural Resources and see if they have thoughts, someone else may be having the same problem!

Hope that helps!

I grew up with well water that was horrible on our laundry so I can sympathize but a blue streak doesn't sound like a water problem. If it was orange or yellow I'd say it would be but blue sounds more like a mechanical problem. Have you checked your machine to make sure it's not leaking grease onto your clothes?

Good luck!
