Can Fleas Live in a Person's Hair?

I have a dog and fleas live on him. Can fleas live in a person's hair? If so how do you get rid of them?

Go to your vet and get a package of Advantage flee treatment and use as directed. If you are not sure how to use it ask the receptionist who gives it to you to show you how. If you do not have a vet then your dog is probably not getting his shots and checkups as he should. This is all part of pet care that needs to be taken care of.

See past posts, easy kill with dry Borax in carpets. Leave for 2 weeks before you vacuum. No fleas for at least a year and a half.

At least not in the house. Your poor dog should be taken care of first.

No, fleas do not live in a humans hair. On the rare occasion one might get on your scalp simply get in the shower and wash your hair and they will fall off and drown. Please do take care of your poochies fleas and get rid of the fleas in your house/yard.

Yes, fleas can infest the hair of humans.Verified by the exterminator that was here today. I am treating my hair for them at this very minute. Ive been to the doctor twice & dermatologist once. I have the worst flea infestation the exterminator has ever seen, & I have no pets.

I keep myself & apartment extremely clean. They were coming through the vent from the downstairs neighbor! 68 days of sheer misery!

Did you manage to get rid of your fleas in the hair? I have had an infestation for 5 months in the house from previous tenants dogs and they have been living in my hair for just over 2 months. My doctor does not believe me & has described me as delusional. The hospital have perscribed psychotic drugs. No one will help with just ridding these fleas from my hair. I have tried all the natural methods, plus lice and scabies treatments. Any advice would be so welcome.

Fleas do not live on your pet. They feed on your pet, and sometimes you. They prefer your pet because their body temperature is higher, but any port in a storm. They live outside, and when they leave your pet indoors, your carpet and furniture.

If you have one in your hair, just take a shower. Then, see about ridding your home of the nasty things.

Walmart has a flea product that just came on the market and is cheaper than the others from the vets. Vets flea stuff is usually about 12 to l5 dollars a month and will fix the dogs problem. Use Talstar bag or liquid and dawn dish soap for the yard, in the house you can use permetrium 38percent 4 tablespoons to gallon of water and only have to do it maybe 2 times in 4 days that is to catch the eggs that hatch. This is the cheapest way to keep and get rid of fleas. I use advantagell and I have 9 dogs and 9 cats but still do the yard and house.

On your hair just wash your hair in dawn dish soap and that will fix you, on the dog use dawn dish soap and vinigar in bath water & let them drown. I would do the bath or pay 5.dollars at vet for a pill that kills them but has no residual effect on fleas then work on debugging the rest of the stuff. The indoor spray can be used on your furniture and anywhere inside or out . Remember the more you vacuum also helps.

It is probably a mite of some kind, dust mites maybe.
I hated the crawly sensation, kept thinking the cats who scratched continuously gave me fleas. A Dawn bath, leaving it on bout 3-5 mins to kill the stronger ones/I put in there carry cage/. Never showed any dead fleas. Used many times before, always killed fleas on them.
My poor cats, if they were experiencing more than ten times me, omg. I killed them on me, long hot shower with long shampoo lather. They had first started crawling on my legs. Then my hair when they slept by my head.
I DID spray Raid flea and tick on carpet, etc too. Then vacuumed rigorously for few days.
A few cycles of this and they were no more. Nothing since. G-Luck.

I had a major sand flea infestation due to a leaky pipe. Omg this is the worst parasite ever!!! They get on you and burrow in your skin to lay eggs. They live in your hair as well. I put salt and baking soda everywhere in my house and left it down for 2 months. For my hair, I used rid and comb your hair 2 to 3 times a day. Use the rid every 4th day to break the cycle of the egg. One was in my nose as well laid eggs there. I am now deworming myself with albendozole in case of a tapeworm. I have treated my yard with bug chemicals every 4th day. I also sprayed cedar oil on my house. I'm finally rid of these horrible parasites. Took 3 month of hell and 60 bites or more. Had to dig out 2, they are the females. Good luck, but I guarantee the only way to rid thm in your house is the baking soda and salt. But until you treat the outside environment, they will come back over and over.

I just stayed up all night getting flea eggs or tapeworm eggs and a couple tiny looking worms up my nasal cavity. I bagged them all. One egg looking thing jumped. Freaked me out. I bagged it quick. I been getting eggs in my mouth. I've been dealing with this for at least two months or so. Threeeee Drs treating me like a head case. I'm sick of Drs. They don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. Unless you have a very good Dr. I am making calls today. They can attach to your organs, esophagus, etc.. burrow up your nose.. nest. I have even read stuff that they can kill you. I'm freaking out and at my wits end. I literally can't believe I'm going thru this and Drs won't take me serious. I take the earth powder too. It can kill tapeworms in your intestines.. poop em out. But they don't kill the eggs. And it's not gonna work for your nose. And I even bagged all the eggs Ive found n one Dr looked under the microscope and literally told me theres no eggs no parasites no worms.. I been picking the shit out of my mouth n teeth.. the eggs. He's stupid. I said then what is it then? They're all over my bed. He didn't have an answer. Dumb AF. I went to the vet for my cat. She said yes these are tapeworms "eggs" but they can be hard to detect. Um.. not true. I called n left a msg for that Dr. Told him he was wrong. Etc.. he had the nerve to call my psych to make an appt with her. I have read other people's stories too and they all said they need psychiatric help n sh*t like that. Fkrs

Have had fleas for 6 months now. The larva are now in my sinuses and nose. 2 weeks ago I bought a bunch of Nexgard and ate the chews myself to get about 3mg/kg dose. Also use a saline rinse every day.
Infestation is starting to go away but I have to wait for the whole lifecycle to run its course.
The larva crawl all over my face and they love my ipad and case leaving gross smears all over the screen.
This has been an insane ride. I have been blowing out huge black scabs from my nose that are dead fleas covered in blood. 4-5 or more a day. Winter has been very warm so even though its January and 30F outside the fleas are still alive in my house and my sinuses.
Nexgard said a bad infestation may take up,to 2 months to get rid of.

hiya. me too! so im not going mad! im a 55 year old builder in the uk. midway through treating a flea invest in the family home, i noticed my usual dusty nasal clearout after work was getting worse. mucas, dark black chods which didnt seem like dirt and varying bits. to investigate i photographed and enlarged. OMG! it was like a scene from the MIB headquarters. lots of pupa, but even some half developed into foetal fleas and some decaying complete ones. plus some others beyond my recognition. i was convinced i was the host ( no sign on our two dogs regularly treated ) and repeat breakouts always seemed to be in the room i was banished too.

self treatment consists of a bicarb & saltnasal wash twice a day, plus inhaling a proper insecticide (with cyphen.... & pralleth.....). four days in now and does seem to be reducing, although i doubt anyone with the title 'dr' would recommend it!

was your treatment successful? hope your clear and well. keep finding references to tapeworm? any tip?

i did manage to ascertain how they got there, but i can't tell you publicly as not any entirely legal recreation. which is most defiantly over, as is the ability of the particular 'retailer' to eat comfortably!!

my sympathies are with you, and your post very helpful not least to my sanity. many thanks, any comments gratefully received.
