Combine 2 cups cornmeal and 1/2 tsp. each of salt and baking powder. Add 1 Tbsp. melted lard and stir in water to make a soft dough. Make into small cakes about half an inch thick and bake on a hot greased griddle until brown and then turn to brown on the other side.
