Here are some tips to use for a Valentines Celebration for Two on a small budget or no budget!

1. Make a Valentine for your Sweetie. Most cards in the stores are generic looking and very expensive. By making your own you can make what you want and customize it to say whatever you choose.

2. Use scented candles for romantic lighting and a great scent.Be sure and put them in safe places and DO NOT leave them unattended!

3. Rose Petal Path! If you have any artificial roses around that you are not using simply cut them apart voila you have Romantic Rose Petals! Sprinkle in a path to wherever you want it to go.

4. Candy! You don't need expensive chocolates to do the trick. Buy some at the grocery or drug store or make it yourself.

5. You can give a Single Rose if you can't afford a dozen. (Men like roses also!) Most convenience stores have the single roses in a bucket for a few dollars each. Buy one of those and take the cellophane wrapping off and then give it to your Valentine! They don't need to know where you got it, after all it is the thought that counts!

6. Write a Love Letter. It doesn't get any cheaper or simpler than that. So get started now and have a great and romantic Valentines Day!

Last year money was an issue for me.
So, I got some silk flower petals from the dollar store laid a path through my house. I found every candle in my house that I was saving for a big occasion and lit them all. I had a bottle of wine that I bought earlier (i usually keep at least one bottle in my house), I put the bottle on ice. I cooked a romantic dinner and sent my daughter to a friends house for the night. My husband was amazed.
But he amazed me as well. He went and bought me a basket and filled it with cute valentine socks, chocolates, a couple roses, and a few of my favorite things. I think it was just perfect. Money doesn't have to be an issue. This year things have been rough for us but Valentines will still be special. I am writing apoem for my husband and framing it with our picture and maybe cooking that special dinner. Just get creative.

hubby and I were on a very tight budget one year and we set a gift limit of $5 each. He burned me a cd to have in my car. I framed him a picture of our kitten. For dinner we spent another $5 on 4 slices of roast beef, a small package of cheese, crackers, and we put this with a bottle of wine we'd already purchased.

On a separate occasion I got out my relaxing "ocean sounds" tape, turned down the lights, and spread a blanket on the living room carpet. A few candles later and we had our own ocean beach picnic.

I think the budget limit was what did it for us was the extreme dollar limit. It forced us to be romantically creative!
