"Magic Shell" Ice Cream Topping

I am looking for a recipe for DQ chocolate sauce. The kind that forms a shell when it turns cold. Thank you.

1 6 ounce package chocolate chips
2 ounces butter
1/4 cup corn oil
In a double boiler (or microwave) melt the chips and butter together. When melted add oil, stir and pour over ice cream. It will harden because of the coldness of the ice cream.

Easy, pleasy, nice and easy.

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz. (1 package) chocolate chips
  • 8 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

Directions:

Melt chocolate chips and butter in a double boiler. Add oil and mix well. Spoon over ice cream and you'll have a hard chocolate shell.

Will stay fresh in fridge, but you'll need to slightly re-heat in microwave for next use.

RE: Recipes For "Magic Shell" Ice Cream Topping

Hi Ruth, After reading your comment re: "magic shell" topping, I went to "ask.com" website and typed in "magic shell ice cream topping" and found the following recipe. 4 oz chocolate chips and 3 Tbsp. butter. Microwave on half power for 30 seconds, stir, then microwave on half power in 30 second increments until it is completely melted through. Then, it should be yum yum time! Hope you like it!
