  • cardboard
  • 7 inch square of white felt
  • red felt
  • black felt
  • needle and thread
  • glue
  • felt pen

Instructions:

  1. To make pattern for snowman, draw three overlapping circles on a piece of cardboard the largest 2 1/2 inches (A) the middle one 2 inches (B) the smallest 1 1/2 inches (C). These make the body and head of the snowman (D).

  2. Using the pattern, cut two of (D) from white felt for the body of the snowman. For pocket, cut one of (B).

  3. Place pocket over bottom of (A) and baste. With pocket facing in, sew the two body parts together using a narrow seam allowance. Leave the bottom open for turning. Clip seam allowance. Turn right side out.

  4. For hat, cut triangular piece of colored felt the width of snowman's head, fold over the wide edge to make cuff and sew to snowman using two or three rows of stitching. Add a contrasting pompom to the peak of hat, and a yarn loop for hanging.

This is very cute! You could also sew a small loop at the tip of the top of his hat so he could double as a Christmas Tree ornament :-)

The snowman is a great idea and very cute. It could serve as an ornament and hold a small gift besides money. Such as earrings, car keys (for that new Christmas car) gift cards.

I think I will make some of these now and put up for next years gift giving. Thanks for sharing this idea with us!
