CD Jewel Case Picture Frame

I took an old CD case and popped the two pieces apart, turned the clear side around and put it back together so now it would stand up in an A frame. Then I took a picture some stickers and some patterned paper and made a picture frame out of it.

Source: I read somewhere you could make a frame from a CD case so I tried it out. Not sure where but thanks if someone from here.

This bug decided to hitch a ride with me, I don't know how long it was there before it was brought to my attention, could it be some type of grasshopper.

Leonardo DiCaprio (Alpaca)

This is Leonardo DiCaprio (his registered name), He is an 11 year old Alpaca. We drove from our home in Odenville Alabama up to northern Ohio this April and brought him back to Alabama in our mini van. Now that it's starting to get hot, he loves to play in the sprinkler or hose. He hums like a humpback whale.

Morgan (Golden Retriever) and Gracie (Beagle)

Morgan (Golden Retriever) and Gracie (Beagle). Morgan is 18 Months old and Gracie is 10 Weeks old. We adopted Morgan when he was 11 months old from someone who could no longer keep him. Gracie was my Mother's Day gift from my hubby.

Morgan and Gracie are the best of buddies. Morgan took on the Big Brother role with abandon. Gracie uses her sharp little teeth on him, but Morgan is forever gentle with her even when she hurts him. They play constantly and are a great source of entertainment! I sometimes laugh til I have tears in my eyes.

I thought having two dogs was going to be difficult. Instead it has been very rewarding. Morgan sets the example and Gracie follows in her big brother's footsteps. In fact, I think housebreaking a puppy has been easier because I already had Morgan. They are such blessings and, after just 3 weeks of having Gracie, I can't imagine life without either one of them.

Contests:

These contests are weekly. We pick 2 tip winners and 1 photo winner at the end of each week. Each winner will win $25!

Today's Tips:

Alcohol Sanitizer to Cool Down

Hot weather got you down? Frying up and can't find cold water? Take alcohol based sanitizer and remove your makeup, wipe you neck and arms, and under your arms. Reapply deodorant and makeup (unless you're a male). This is the next best thing to a cool shower in hot weather and will make you feel less greasy. Watch the eyes!

Saving Energy By Air Drying Laundry

Hang your wet laundry on a drying rack until it is about half or more than half dry and then finish it in the dryer. The machine will last longer and you will save tons of electricity.

Bartering Cleaning Services

I'm cleaning a club house for a fancy housing complex for just a little pay and full use of the amenities. This is saving a ton of money because this particular one I'm doing right now has swimming pool, pool table, movie theater room (that shows regular movies), tanning bed (which I don't use but could) and a full gym.

They are saving because I'm cleaning for a less amount than the going rate but I'm getting other stuff also. When we leave from this area (which will be soon to travel to the next job), I already have a new friend very excited to step in. She said she had never thought about doing this before. I plan to find another complex in the next place and do the same thing.

Frugal Bath Tips

Here are frugal bath tips:

  • To scent your bath water, add the last bit of your perfume, even if it is dried up and cannot be worn anymore. You can even float the empty bottle in the bath water!

  • If you have a scent that's too strong for you when you apply it, you can dilute it in your bath water.

  • For a spa experience, add epsom salts (you can half with bath salts to make them last).

  • Samples of body wash can be used as bubble bath.

  • To rid your hair of buildup, add a few tablespoons of baking soda to your first application of shampoo.

  • Remember most shampoo can be diluted in half, and is still effective.

Dear Webby's Joke of the Day

At one of the last all girl schools in Dallas years ago, the instructor in a "Charm Course" was urging her students to give their escorts every chance to be gallant.

"Remain seated in the truck until he has had time to step around and open the door for you." she said.

Then, returning to reality, she added, "But... if the dumb galoot is in the restaurant flirting at the waitress, don't wait any longer."

Tide-To-Go Pen Left Yellow Stain On Clothing

How do I remove a yellow stain left by Tide-To-Go? It has been washed and dried once or twice since the actual stain. My sweater is cotton and spandex, and says "do not bleach". But somewhere I have read that "do not bleach" can mean different things such as yellowing, whitening, or making the fabric become more coarse.

What is another product that is easy to come by (in Ontario, Canada) that will work fast and easy to remove the yellow stain? Please help. Thanks.

Sweet Gum Twig Toothbrush

My grandmother used to make a toothbrush from sweet gum twigs. A friend of mine showed me that you could take your finger nail and slightly cut one of the twigs then come back the next day or several days later and there would be a large glob of light green jelly like liquid or gum formed that he would eat. I tried the gum and it tasted pretty good. I just wanted to verify if indeed it was a young sweet gum that he was doing this to or some other plant? Can you verify that it was or was not a sweet gum? Thanks.

Cleaning Fiberglass Shower Doors

What do you use to clean fiberglass shower doors? There are many articles on what to use to clean the lime from shower doors. I worked on them yesterday and with a lot of elbow grease, CLR, a gel mildew cleaner and a bucket of dish soap I was able to get some of it off the doors. There is still etching on the doors. The posts reference glass shower doors. Does this apply to the plastic (or fiberglass doors)? Do you need to take a different approach for fiberglass?

Ideas for In-Home Spa Services

I'm planning to open an in-home spa offering aesthetic services. What is your favorite service to receive? What themes do you think are most suitable for a spa (Nature, Elegance, etc.)? What music do you prefer to have playing in the background (Classical, Relaxation, etc.)? Would you like a TV available to watch during your service?

Should there be beverages available? If so what should there be? What are your favorite product scents (lavender, lemon, mocha, etc.)? I would like your tips, ideas and opinions about spas and their services. I would like to have a wider range of ideas of what it is people are looking for. Thanks.

What Breed is My Dog?

What Breed is my dog? We rescued Achilles from a shelter. He was very sick, literally skin and bones the day I came back to visit him. I took him to the vet, he had Cat Flu Parvovirus and he spent a week hospitalized. He's been with us for three weeks now and growing fast.

They advertised him as a rottweiler/husky mix. He came home on the 20th of June. This is him on the 28th June (still recovering). To date his ears have come up more but are not standing straight yet. His paws are now bigger, he's put on more weight and now has a proper puppy tummy. :)

Transitioning a Cat Back to Solid Foods

I have a 5 year old cat, Savannah, who was hit by a car and has a broken pelvis and bruised bladder. She is doing well and on the mend. I have had to feed her through syringes since this happened last week. She is alert, responsive and preening herself but still won't eat solid food. I'm thinking the food I offer her might be too much after essentially fasting for days. It's time for her to eat solid foods. Does anyone have any recommendations for a cat food that will be gentle on her system after being on a liquid diet for so long?
