Craft Project: Cabbage Patch Sweater

Cabbage Patch Sweater

Cabbage Patch Sweater

This can be made for a Cabbage Patch Doll, or a newborn baby. It is a ripple style sweater, very quick to make. It is short sleeved. And great over a long sleeved shirt.

Materials:

  • Baby Yarn 3 colors - 1 ounce each (Example: Pink, White, Yellow
  • 1/2 inch ribbon (color to match Color 1 on sweater) 24 inches
  • Aluminum Hood Size F

Instructions:

Using Color A, Chain 94

Row 1: 1 DC in 4th chain from hook. DC in each of next 2 ch, 3 DC in next ch, *DC in each of next 6 ch, 3 DC in next ch, repeat from * for 11 more times, 1 DC in each of next 3 ch. Ch 3, turn.

Row 2: sk 1 DC, DC in each of next 2 DC, 5 DC in middle DC of 3 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 3 DC, Sk 2* DC in each of next 3DC, 5 DC in middle of 3DC, Sk 2, (Wave made) Repeat from * to last Wave, DC in each of next 3 DC, 5 DC in middle of 3 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 2 DC, sk 1, DC in 3rd ch at beginning of previous row. Ch 3, turn.

Row 3: Sk 1 DC, DC in each of next 3 DC, 3 DC in middle of 5 DC cluster, DC in each of next 4 DC, Sk 2 * DC in each of next 4 DC, 3 DC in middle of 5 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 4 DC. Sk 2. Repeat from * to last Wave, DC in each of next 4 DC, 3 DC in middle of 5 DC cluster, DC in each of next 3 DC, Sk I, DC in 3rd ch at beginning of previous row. Ch 3, turn.

Row 4: Sk 1 DC, DC in each of next 3 DC, 5 DC in middle of 3 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 4 DC, Sk2, * DC in each of next 4DC, 5 DC in middle of 3 DC cluster, DC in each of next 4 DC, Sk2 DC. Repeat from * to last Wave, DC in each of next 4DC, 5DC in middle of 3 DC cluster, DC in each of next 3 DC, Sk 1, DC in 3rd ch at beginning of previous row. Using color B. Join color at end of 4th row. Ch 3, turn.

Row 5: Sk 1 DC, DC in each of next 4 DC. 3 DC in middle of 5DC Cluster, DC in each of next 5 DC, Sk 2 * DC in each of next 5 DC, 3DC in middle of 5DC cluster, DC in each of next 5 DC. Sk 2 Repeat from * to last Wave, DC in each of next 5 DC, 3DC in middle of 5 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 4 DC, Sk 1 DC in 3rd ch at beginning of previous row. Ch 3, turn.

Row 6: Sk 1 DC, DC in each of next 4 DC, 5 DC in middle of 3 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 5 DC, Sk2, *DC in each of next 5 DC, 5 DC in middle of 3 DC cluster, DC in each of next 5 DC, Sk 2. Repeat from * to last Wave, DC in each of next 5 DC, 5 DC in middle of 3 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 4 DC, Sk 1, DC in 3rd ch at beginning of previous row. Ch 3, turn.

Row 7: Sk 1DC, DC in each of next 5 DC, 3 DC in middle of 5 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 6 DC, Sk 2 * DC in each of next 6 DC, 3 DC in middle of 5 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 6 DC. Repeat to last Wave, DC in each of next 6 DC, 3DC in middle of 5DC Cluster, DC in each of next 5 DC, Sk 1, DC in 3rd ch at beginning of previous row. Ch 3, turn.

Row 8: Sk 1 DC, DC in each of next 5 DC, 5 DC in middle of 3 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 6 DC, Sk 2 *DC in each of next 6 DC, 5 DC in middle of 3 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 6 DC. Repeat to last wave, DC in each of next 6 DC, 5 DC in middle of 3 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 5 DC. Sk 1 DC in 3rd ch at beginning of previous row. Using Color C. Join color at end of 8th row. Ch 3, turn.

Row 9: Sk 1 DC, DC in each of next 6 DC, 3 DC in middle of 5 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 7 DC, Sk 2, DC in each of next 7 DC, 3 DC in middle of 5 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 7 DC, Sk 51 DC (or 3 "Waves" making arm opening) Sk 1 DC on next wave, DC in each of next 7 DC, 3 DC in middle of 5 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 7 DC, Sk 2, DC in each of next 7 DC, 3 DC in middle of 5 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 7 DC, Sk 2, DC in each of next 7 DC, 3 DC in middle of 5 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 7 DC, Sk 51 DC (or 3 "Waves" making other arm opening) Sk 1 DC on next wave, DC in each of next 7 DC, 3 DC in middle of 5 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 7 DC, Sk 2, DC in each of next 7 DC, 3 DC in middle of 5 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 6 DC, Sk 1 DC in 3rd ch at beginning of previous row. Row 10: Sk 1 DC, DC in each of next 6 DC, 5 DC in middle of 3 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 7 DC, Sk 2 *, DC in each of next 7 DC, 5 DC in middle of 3 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 7 DC. Sk 2. Repeat from * to last Wave. DC in each of next 7 DC, 5 DC in middle of 3 DC Cluster, DC in each of next 6 DC, Sk 1. DC in 3rd ch at beginning of previous row. Ch 4, turn.

Row 11: Sk 1 DC, TR in each of next 7 DC, 3 TR in middle of 5 DC Cluster, TR in each of next 8 DC, Sk 2 * TR in each of next 8 DC, 3 TR in middle of 5 DC Cluster, TR in each of next 8 DC. Repeat from * to last Wave. TR in each of next 8 DC, 3 TR in middle of 5 DC Cluster, TR in each of next 7 DC, Sk 1, DC in 3rd ch at beginning of previous row. Ch 4, turn.

Row 12: Sk 1 TR, TR in each of next 7 DC, 5 TR in middle of 3 TR Cluster, TR in each of next 8 DC, Sk 2 * TR in each of next 8 TR, 5 TR in middle of 3 TR Cluster, TR in each of next 8 TR. Repeat from * to last Wave. TR in each of the next 8 TR, 3 TR in middle of 5 TR Cluster, TR in each of next 7 TR, Sk 1, TR in 4th ch at beginning of previous row. Ch 4, turn.

Row 13: Sk 1 TR, TR in each of next 8 TR, 3 TR in middle of 5 TR cluster, TR in each of next 9 TR, Sk 2 * TR in each of next 9 TR, 3 TR in middle of 5 TR Cluster, TR in each of next 9 TR. Repeat from * to last Wave. TR in each of next 9 TR, 3 TR in middle of 5 TR cluster, TR in each of next 8 TR, Sk 1, TR in 4th ch at beginning of previous row. Fasten off.

Neck: Using Color A, ch 3 in first loop of beginning chain, 1 DC in 2nd ch * Sk 3 ch, DC in next Ch. Repeat from * fasten off.

Finishing: Wave ribbon through DC Beading around neck, and tie in a bow. Or you may use a 24 inch chain made from matching yarn in place of the ribbon.

Note: This pattern also fits a Newborn Baby.

correction to previous post, tried the other link and it worked fine - *note to myself - always wait until second cup of coffee before trying things like this :-)

I can't seem to get to the pattern either :-( error code:

I am having trouble trying to get the directions with the information you gave. Several new babies coming this spring and really like the dress a lot. I had been looking for something cute and this is it.
