Quick Flaky Pastry

This recipe is one that can be used for sweet or savory. It is very light. Hope you like it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. plain flour with a pinch of salt
  • 10 oz. grated butter (this works when you place the butter into the freezer for about 1/2 hour

Directions

Grate the half frozen butter into the flour. Using a knife, blend in but do not use hands to do this as when the pastry is cooked, it will not have the same light texture. Use enough cold water to form a soft dough. Wrap and put into the fridge and let rest for at least 1/2 hour, then use as required.

Hope you find this as good as I do

Is this for one pie (pastry) crust?

flour = 3 cups
butter = 1 stick (8 oz) plus 2 oz more.

Wondering about a conversion to Tbsp./tsp., also?

Hi Merlene. Did you find the conversions you needed?

This sounds good and easy.
Does anyone know the conversion into measurements (cups). I don't have a food scale.
