Video: Chex Party Mix

By Fletcher Sandbeck
The classic Chex Party Mix with nuts and pretzels. This is the original chex mix recipe off the box of General Mills Chex Cereal. This is a great snack mix to put out during the holidays or to even give as gifts!

Time: 1 hour 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Corn Chex cereal
  • 3 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 3 cups Wheat Chex cereal
  • 1 cup mixed nuts
  • 1 cup pretzels
  • 6 Tbsp butter
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp seasoned salt
  • 3/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F

  2. Melt butter in a large roasting pan in the oven (if you do not have a large roasting pan you can use 2 casserole pans)

  3. Mix Cereal, pretzels and nuts together in a bowl, set aside

  4. Mix seasonings together, set aside

  5. Pour seasonings in with melted butter in the pan and mix

  6. Pour dry ingredients in the pan mixing well.

  7. Place in oven and cook for one hour, stir every 15 minutes.

  8. After an hour take out of the oven and spread mix out on 3 layers of paper towels, let sit for 15 minutes (or place in a large paper bag and shake)

  9. Serve and enjoy!

In our family we have played with this recipe over the years. We have tried using tamari soy sauce instead of Worcestershire sauce, added a few teaspoons of Cayenne pepper or have added Wasabi peas. So have fun and change it up a bit to fit your flavor preference.

Yum! I love party mix. I usually make mine in my big turkey roasting pan and mix it all together in there. I also use a paper bag to store it in while it is cooling. I do the same thing if I'm making lots of popcorn.
