German Chocolate Upside Down Cake

Ingredients
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1-8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
  • 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix

Directions

Place nuts and coconut into the bottom of a greased 9x13x2 inch baking dish. Mix cake mix according to pkg. directions and pour on top of the nuts and coconut. In a saucepan, melt margarine and cream cheese. Stir in sugar. Pour over the cake mix. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until the cake tests done.

can u use the coconut pecan frosting in the bottom of this recipe or do u need to use the coconut and the nuts

Hi, sorry on just getting back to you on this. You could probably serve either which way you'd like. I've not made it, but thought it sounded really good.

Hi Terri! This sounds delicious and I want to try it, but I'm wondering if you are supposed to serve it right from the pan or try to release it when cooled. Let me know if you get a chance, thanks.
