My husband and I only have two days vacation and wish to Iowa in August or September. Any suggestions for "points of interest" for a fun time on such a short vacation, that won't break the bank?

Thank you!
Eva from Illinois

Editor's Note: Eva also asked about Wisconsin ideas, we created a separate request for that.

The Grotto of The Redemption in West Bend, Ia (north central) is worth seeing. (Free)

I would not waste your time or money going to the Grand Harbor waterpark resort in Dubuque! We were very disappointed in it when we were there in Feb. We have gone to the Wisconsin Dells quite a few times and it is really great! Lots of fun for all ages!

Don't forget the Iowa Great Lakes at Arnold's Park, Spirit Lake area. Beautiful lakes with boating, swimming, picnicing, great resturants, shopping, local history. Let your mind go. Arnold's Park will no doubt have it. Beautiful anytime of year actually.

ALSO Kalona. There is a Mennonite dairy there with the world's best cheese curds. Mild, so deeee-lish.

My husband and I really enjoy visiting the Amana Colonies. Lots of shops and great eating!
