Bumps After Playing in the Sandbox

My son was playing in the sandbox and now has bumps on one forearm. They itch but do not burn. What could have caused this? Ant bites?

Sounds like what we call sand flies - very itchy, but you can treat them as you would mosquito bites.

This sounds like sand fleas. These are very prevalent in warm, moist climates.
