When we were little, my mom would make sloppy joes by browning ground beef and onions. Drain off grease and add 2 cans vegetable soups and heat thoroughly. She would serve on hamburger buns or regular bread.

Vegtable soup?!? I'm not sure if I would like that or not. Tomato soup would be more in the vein of traditional sloppy joes, but a lot of times what "Mommy made" when you were little is the only "real" thing for you -- I feel that way about a lot of things!
