Chinese Spareribs
Ingredients
4 slabs of ribs
1/2 cup soy sauce (or more)
2 Tbsp. salad oil
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1/2 tsp. ginger
2 sliced onions
8 green onions, minced
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
2 Tbsp. vinegar
1/2 cup sliced celery leaves
1/4 tsp. pepper
Directions
Brown cut up slabs on both sides. Put browned ribs in a Dutch oven or heavy pot with about 1 cup water and simmer, covered, over low heat for 45 minutes. Mix together all other ingredients and pour over ribs. Bring to a boil once, then turn heat low and simmer, basting frequently. Cook for about 3 hours. Perfect for crock pots. Makes 8 servings. May be frozen and reheated. Pork steaks may be substituted.
