Tea Bag Wallet

Holds 2 tea bags per pocket or 1 tea bag + sugar packet. Yet small enough to fit into your purse.

About a year ago tea bag wallets were the big craze on eBay. I studied the photos on eBay and being the frugal person that I am wanted to find a free sewing pattern. So I searched the internet and couldn't find a sewing pattern and ended up making my own pattern out of interfacing and used a Sharpie Permanent Marker to mark the stitching lines.

These are so easy to make. The wallet has 4 pockets and will hold a total of 8 tea bags. Open it measures about 7 1/2 long by 6 1/2 wide and closed about 3 1/2 inches all the way around.

The sewing pattern measures 8 inches wide by 14 inches long and then I cut an extra piece for making the loop out of interfacing. You can make the loop as long or as short as you want it, just so it's long enough to loop around the button that is sewn on the front when finished. I used one piece of printed fabric for the outside and one piece of muslin for the lining. Take the printed fabric and the muslin, place right sides together and stitch a 1/4 inch seam on all 3 sides, making sure to square off corners. Leave bottom open for turning. Then turn fabric right side out and press seams with a hot iron. Turn up bottom edge and stitch seam closed.

Now you have the printed fabric on the top and muslin on the bottom. With muslin side facing you, fold up 3 1/4 inch on each side to make pockets. Place straight pins along the outer edge, pin fabric making sure edges are even. Stitch 1/4 inch all around tea bag wallet, making sure that you stitch in loop for button placement. Now fold fabric in half to find the center, and stitch a straight seam making 4 pockets. Close wallet and decide on button placement, open a pocket and hand sew on button, making sure to not stitch the pocket closed.

I also use my wallet to carry a tube of lip balm and a pack of gum in my purse.

Rosco The Dog

Rosco is 8 and is totally mixed. He was born 8 years ago in the basement.

Rosco likes to play with the grandkids and cats. This picture was taken after Rosco had played all afternoon with my 7 year old grandson. I looked over and he was all curled up on the pillow and under the covers, he was even snoring. He had a hard day playing.

Washable Cloth Nappies

I made all my daughters nappies from old t shirts, towels or off cuts of flannel fabric. They all close with Velcro. As she's is now potty trained, I'm making training pants from fleece fabric. I'm sorry I have no pictures to post. I just drew out the pattern and I'm now selling them to friends and by word of mouth. As a single parent of 2, this was my best money saving thing I have done

Keep Track Of Deductibles On Checks All Year Long

I put deductible on the memo line on checks and, when balancing my account, write the name, etc. of the amount and to who the deductible was written to on the statement page. At years end, you can quickly get this part on paper ready for your tax preparer.

Is It A Need Or A Want?

When trying to save money, I look at the need or the want. Yes, I need food. No, I do not need that new DVD, because it is actually a want.

Do you want an item or do you really need it. If you look at your buying in this fashion, and follow the rules, then you will save lots of money.

Pad Bedside Wall With Quilts

My grandson's youth bed is up against the wall, and since he is an active sleeper, he kept crashing into the wall and waking himself up at night. To solve that problem, I hung one of his decorative quilts on the wall behind his bed. Now the quilt softens the blow of his nighttime crashes and we all get a better night's sleep.

Add Coffee Grounds For Abrasive Soap

Used coffee grounds make for a GREAT exfoliant! I keep a jar on my stove and fill it up regularly with used grounds. It's wonderful on the hands and can also be used as an abrasive cleaner combined with dish soap for those "sticky" pans!

Canker Sore Remedies

I am 29 and have suffered since I was little. I get them once a month if I do not take preventative measures. The good bacteria found in natural yogurt is what works for me. My mother used to make it homemade because it worked so well. Later we found, acidophilus capsules. This is the good bacteria in a little pill. Works wonders! When I have an outbreak, I use Anbesol, this is what is used on baby gums when they are teething. It hurts for 1 millisecond but helps to numb the area.

Oily Sand For Garden Tool Maintenance

Sink an old metal bucket into the soil and fill it with sand. Get some some old sump oil from your motor mechanic and pour it into the bucket saturating the sand. When you've finished each day in the garden dig into the oily sand with your spades and forks making sure each is well coated. It will prevent rust and rot where the wooden handle is joined to the garden tool.

Dear Webby's Joke of the Day

Little Tommy had been to a birthday party at a friend's house. Knowing his sweet tooth, Tommy's mother looked straight into his eyes and said, "I hope you didn't ask for a second piece of cake."

"No, but I asked Mrs. Smith for the recipe so you could make some like it, and she gave me two more pieces without asking."

How Do I Sell My House to My Son?

I'm looking for the least expensive way to sell a home. I already have a buyer (my son). Do I have to go through an attorney? Or a title company? Surely not both. I feel there is no need for a title search but will I have to have one to sell the house? Will I have to have the house appraised? I've gotten a free estimate from a Realtor and the price is okay with me and my son. My son cannot pay cash for the home.

Price List for Meals Made for a Bachelor Friend

I have recently agreed to bake for a bachelor friend of mine. He says he likes anything, but I think it would work better if I give him a list of items with a price for each. My problem is determining what I should reasonably charge. I need a general technique or formula for figuring out the cost to make things like 1 dozen cookies, l dozen muffins, a cake, a pie, l dozen tarts and a way to figure out a reasonable markup for my time, electricity etc. Anybody have any ideas?

Quilting With Foil Snack Bags

My 19 year old son came up with this while he and a friend watched me crochet rounds from the foil type snack bags I had cut into "metallic yarn" and I kidded that I was making him a car cover!

He said "Why don't you just cut the bags open and tape them together? (as you would patchwork quilt) I think that makes a lot more economical sense than trying to crochet them and all that cutting of the strips is time consuming!"

I thought on that and decided that glass tape is expensive (fiberglass that is nicknamed glass tape) so maybe a better deal would be shipping tape. It will hold out in the wet weather I believe.

Any idea?

Hazard: These pacifiers fail to meet federal safety standards for pacifiers. The pacifier shield is too small and could easily enter the mouth of an infant. Also, ventilation holes are too small and not placed to allow for the insertion of a tool to remove the pacifier when lodged in the mouth of a child. Finally, the package fails to display the required warning instructing consumers not to tie a pacifier around a child's neck, which would present a strangulation hazard.
