Cleaning Floors After A Fire

Remove water quickly. If warping is not pronounced, it may be possible to scrape or sand level but water-logged floors must be replaced.

Wash wood floors with soap or detergent in a minimum of water, scrubbing with fine steel wool and solvent wax to pick up any residual soil; then buff the surface.

Wash vinyl floors with suds; next use a vinyl tile cleaner, and then apply a protective surface of liquid self-polishing wax.
