I really wouldn't suggest it, it may contain organisms harmful to fish and reptiles. Pet stores carry a wide variety of sand and rock suitable for your fish tank.

I wouldn't recommend it either! Besides organic organisms there are also concerns about fresh vs saltwater and environmental pollutants that may be on the sand.

Sand dunes in Maryland are protected places. I would not recommend destroying that protection of your sea shore.
