Species of Elder Native to Arkansas

Category Trees

I was reading an article on making a whistle from a tree limb and the person said that Elder was a good source. I e-mailed him and asked if he meant Box Elder or Common Elder. His reply was "just Elder". This has me confused. How many Elders do we have in Arkansas? Thank you for your time.
