Using Old Oil Can for Olive Oil

Can an old fashioned squirt oil can, or the ones with the squeeze handle on them, be cleaned so that we can use one for applying olive oil to salads, etc.? Please explain how to clean them because, I'm both a kitchen hazard and Ms. Fix-it! Thank you very much.

Wow! I guess the oil cans from today would be the same exponential danger. I think we'll try the ketchup bottle & sport bottle ideas. We just wanted something "cool" to pour olive oil into the popcorn pot, salads, etc. This time, the re purposing idea is kibosh ed! Whew. THANKS!

Please don't. They probably use lead solder in them. I use a plastic clear ketchup bottle for oil. The kind that a diner would use.

I wouldn't want to eat anything that had been in an oil can.

I think you have a really bad and unhealthy idea.

I did see salad oil sprayers on sale at Bed & Bath.

For easy dispensing of olive oil, I use a beverage bottle with a sports cap--son is always buying these sports/energy drinks so I have an ample supply. You know, the kind with a push/pull cap. Makes it easy to drizzle a small amount of oil. Be sure to wipe the top with a bit of tissue after each use otherwise it will get gunky/messy.

Please don't even think about it.
