I then dumped the dirty water out and repeated the process until no more trash came out. When I put it in upward the liquid don't come out when I turn it the other way the liquid comes out the minute I put it in. I take the fabric softener dispenser off occasionally and soak it in a sink or dish pan with HOT water and white vinegar. You may need to use an old toothbrush to help scrub it. The part that holds the softener can come off. So I then took it and soaked it overnight in javex & water. scrubbed what I could with an old tooth brush. Just when I thought I was done, I was running hot water through the top, and all this mould and guck came out - an hour later I am still running water, and guck is still coming out. I think I might invest in one of those downy balls Posted on 07/09/2007 | Report Spam or Abuse RE: Cleaning Fabric Dispenser By MainyP (Guest Post) I soak mine in really hot water for 5-10 minutes, then I use an old toothbrush with either Dawn (dishwashing liquid) or plain old white vinegar to scrub out any remaining residue. It always comes out squeaky clean, no matter which one I use. Good Luck! Use really really hot water to melt the fabric softner. I also used a toothbrush to scrub the container. If that doesn't work you could call Sears and order a new one.
