You can come up with some delicious cocktails that you make all on your own, and do so at a much cheaper price than what you would expect to spend at happy hour. So consider using any alcohol that you may already have in the house or learn to buy the small travel sized bottles for a single cocktail to keep the overall cost down. Let's look at some favorites:
Sangria: You need not get an expensive wine, as a matter of fact go for something cheap when you are mixing it with something like this. Here you take the wine and mix in some simple fruit juice such as orange, then simply top with some sliced lemons, limes, and oranges for garnish.
Daiquiri: You can find some great mixes out on the market today that taste delicious and are actually quite cheap. If you want to stick with a lighter version of this or make it in a smaller portion, then buy a travel sized bottle of rum or go with one you may already have in the house. Top with a fresh lime slice and enjoy this refreshing cocktail!
Wine Spritzer: This is simple, delicious, and super cheap to make. Take a cheap bottle of wine and then mix each glass with either a clear soda such as Sprite or even club soda. Top with a lime or lemon slice and you'll be amazed at just how quickly you'll be enjoying this cheap and effervescent drink.
Margaritas: You can even find some mixes that have the alcohol mixed in, but if you want to keep the cost down, go with a travel sized bottle of tequila or even leave the alcohol out for the same yummy taste. Perfect for a summer day!
Club Soda with Vodka: Again keep the cost down by going for a travel sized container of vodka or with what you may already have in the house. Mix with a cheap club soda and top with a lime. Cools you down and in a cheap and enjoyable way!
Lemonade and Rum: The alcohol doesn't matter as much when you are mixing with something as tasty as lemonade. So go for the cheaper or smaller bottles and mix your own lemonade at home. This is better than what you would get out at a bar!
Red Bull and Vodka: This can be cheap and a real pick me up so go with a cheap and small bottle of vodka and then pick up a can of Red Bull. It's not recommended to drink too much of these but they can be perfect if you are looking for something to pick you up as far as cocktails go!
Dirty Martini: This may sound expensive and that's because they always are at every restaurant. The key here is to hold onto olive juice that you may have in the house after you use it and then pick up a cheap bottle of vodka. Be sure to shake this mixture up well in a shaker over plenty of ice and then pour into a nice martini glass to enjoy!
Mocktail: For the non-drinking set, you can come up with some creative mocktails that are quite refreshing and cheap. Try out cranberry juice with club soda garnished with a lime for a new version of a cocktail without the alcohol.
Rum and Diet Coke: You can keep your carb and calorie count down with this favorite. Mix a simple rum in a smaller bottle with some Diet Coke and you have a refreshing cocktail for well under $3!
