* If you use the above chart & the gauge of your yarn you can change pretty much any size kids pattern to a different size!
When I go into some Walmart's, I always look in their basket of free knit & crochet pattern sheets. Sometimes, I'll come home with 50 different patterns! I've noticed they have quite a few for children. But, you're right, most are made for smaller kids.
* You might also try the Lionbrand yarn site, ( & other yarn makers sites) as they have lots of free patterns.
