I live in a house that was built in 1957, apparently when tacky wood paneling was in style; and after fifty years it has only gotten uglier! I can't afford to remove the paneling and drywall, so for a quick fix of color I decided to prime and paint.
I used the comforter to pick out colors for the color scheme. I bought Ace brand paint and primer. I have used other types of primer on the paneling in other rooms and found that it ran down the wall. The Ace brand is very thick and did not run at all and spatters very little when rolling.
My bedroom is now my most favorite room in the house!
Instead of the traditional Valentine cards for mom, dad, a grandparent or friend, make special banners to send your message.
Crafting Time: 20 - 30 minutes
What You Need:
Red or pink crepe paper streamer
Yarn
Scissors
Cellophane tape
Red, pink, and white construction paper
Markers
Glue
Ribbon
Directions:
1. Cut an 18" length of crepe paper streamer and a length of yarn for each banner. Knot the yarn ends together to make a hanger. To attach the hanger, place a yarn loop at one end of a streamer, fold the top of the streamer down over one section of the yarn loop, and tape the top to the back of the streamer. Cut the opposite end of the streamer into points to resemble ribbon.
2. Draw and cut heart shapes, in various sizes from red, pink, and white construction paper.
3. Write on three of your hearts. Write "I" on the first, "Love" on the second, and "You" on the third. Glue the hearts to the banner ribbons, spacing the hearts evenly. Glue additional hearts to the banners above and below the word hearts. Hearts may be decorated with marker before gluing. Other messages you might want to write: You're the best. You are great. Please be mine. I'm sure you can think of more.
4. Cut a length of ribbon for each banner. Tie the ribbons into bows and glue a bow at the top of each banner.
Keep and eye out for old windows with wood frames at yard sales. They can be made into rustic looking picture frames. Find pictures that are a little smaller than the window and use a matte, which can be found at any craft store, to give it a finished look. Use tape or staples (put in sideways) to hold the pictures and mattes in place. Multi-pane windows can be used to frame multiple pictures. An inexpensive way to find artwork or pictures to frame is to use old calendar pages.
Here are some creative ways to reuse tissue boxes. Post your own ideas below:
Tissue Box For Yarn Scraps
I do a lot of crocheting and am constantly having scraps of yarn laying around. To combat this problem, I keep an empty boutique tissue box close to where I am crocheting. I use it until it is full, then just throw it away and start on a new one. Saves a lot of trips to the trash can.

Sewing Trash Basket
I keep one on my sewing machine and put thread, scraps of fabric, etc. in it. When full, I just throw the whole thing away. No need for a waste basket by my machine.

Pretty Bookmarks
I cut the sides out and cut 2 pieces the size of a normal book marker, I hole punch the top, glue the two pieces together and glue gun lace around the edges and tie a small piece yarn to match and you can give them to people who love to read or as stocking stuffers! good luck!

Homemade Cards
Some of the boxes have really neat designs on them so I use them to make my homemade cards with. When using a paper punch the design can be so weird you'd never know what it was before

Use As Gift Boxes
I have used the small "cube" tissue boxes as gift boxes at Christmas. Undo one set of flaps, put the gift inside (with some tissue paper if you like -- ironic, huh?), then wrap as usual. If it's a pretty Christmas design box, you may want to just let the design show, and simply cover the places where the brand name shows. Use a big stick-on bow or wide ribbon to cover the slit on top.

Kids Mailboxes
Kids love mail. When I was in grade school eons ago, we made "mailboxes" for Valentine's day. The cards were put into our boxes through the slot at the top. Make a mailbox for your kids. If they get mail, drop it in. Otherwise a note from Mom and/or Dad is always appreciated!
I made these pillows for Christmas for family members, but you could make them for any reason or decor. I bought at the dollar store the sets of 4 placemats with matching runner for $5, per set. Then I took 2 placemats and sewed them together, turned them inside out and stuffed with poly filled pillows that I bought at the same store on sale, 2 for $4. I cut the pillow open and used the stuffing, each pillow will stuff two of the theme pillows, and sew the bottom together. I put the 2 pillows together with the runner in the middle and tied it with pretty ribbon. Each family had 2 pillows for their sofa and a matching table runner for the coffee table. Everyone loved them. I would send a picture but I have already packed up Christmas. Some of them were snowmen, angels, christmas trees, wreaths and reindeers.
Long ago and far away (when I was in college), a guy that I was dating gave me an origami flower (it was 3D and had a 3D pyramid in the center - I think there were 4 or 6 3D petals). Does anyone know how to make this flower or other 3D origami flowers?
My sister-in-law is having her wedding in May. She wants a star theme for decorations for her reception hall. Please give me some tips on accomplishing this the inexpensive way to get the formal and elegant look.
What do I do with all of my children's school artwork? I don't want to just throw them out in the trash! I do hang them for a while on the kitchen cupboards, or fridge, etc. Anyone have any suggestions on storing them, or preserving them in a binder, or frames?
I live in Essex in the UK and along with a friend, we would like to start making and selling at craft fairs to enable us to continue to stay home with our children.
I thought I would ask for suggestions on here as being an american site, you would probably come up with suggestions that we don't have over here.
I am looking for Snowman Crafts and Recipes. I am having a Winter Party featuring snowman decorations. I need any ideas that I can use for decorations and food.
