Preheat a grill to medium high.
Arrange slices of bread on a work surface. Trim off the crusts and save them for future bread crumb use.
Top 2 bread slices with 1 cheese slice each, then top each with another slice of bread, then top each with 1 cheese slice and finally another slice of bread. Brush both outer sides of each sandwich with butter.
Grill each side, occasionally pressing lightly with a spatula, until cheese is melted and bread is golden.

Amen Pookarina Julia and you simply must try putting a little fresh chopped basil or fresh chopped cilantro or a little grated Parmesan cheese in that tomato soup too. Yummy, yummy, yummy flavor enhancements. ;-)
...and there's nothing better than a good grilled cheese sandwich with a bowl of just plain old Campbell's Cream of Tomato Soup. Could not be more simple, and I never have to call my family twice when we have this delicious pairing.
I do like the idea of the Double Decker, so will try it soon, maybe with slices of very thin ham with the cheese and tomato. The guys especially will love it.
Thank you for another winner Deeli.
Thumb's Up for sure.
