Wildlife: Black Rat Snake

I took this while on a hiking trail in The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. He was ready to strike but is not poisonous so I seized the opportunity to snap this shot.

JustPlainJo,

LOL, I knew that he was non poisonous so I had nothing to fear. I have handled snakes before so they do not scare me. If it had been a poisonous snake I can promise you I would not have been so close.
