Barnyard Theme Nursery Ideas

I was wondering if anyone knew of cheap nusery ideas. I'm wanting to do a barnyard theme (I already have a baby quilt with pig, cow, etc.). I was thinking of having my husband paint a mural on the walls and going to a flea market for furniture to refinish as well (Any tips for that would be appreciated as well).

Thanks for the advice

I paint custom wall murals on mural canvas or pre-pasted wallpaper and would be happy to create a barn theme for your roon. Please check out my web site www.newenglandartlink.com

You could expand it to include farmer stuff too like pillows made out of denim or old overalls, straw hats to hang on the wall, bandanas for curtain valances. Also, don't forget to look in other departments when you're shopping. There are a lot of cute cow, chicken, hen things in the kitchen department. A wire egg basket would look cute lined with a bandana. You could put this on a dresser or shelf to hold lotion, etc. I've seen mock weather vanes in outdoor departments. You could get a little stool like a milking stool and paint it. I've even seen some small cow-patterned stools. My kids love their step stools. They drag them all over the house. If you want to get really industrious & have solid (not bifold) closet doors, you could paint it to look like a barn door.

At your flea market look for a metal milk can. You could put a garbage bag in this and use it for a diaper pail. You could paint it up to make it look nice or leave it rustic looking. The paint might be cleaner for when the little one is crawling around. I would make sure to get one with the lid to hold in the smells.

When my son was younger he loved cows. I purchased a stick up type of wallpaper border that had cows and chickens on it. Then with some of the left over border I cut out the cows and used them to decorate the front of his very plain dresser. Good luck!

Getting or making farm animals out of wood, painting them, then putting the cutouts around border of walls. I cut our pigs made from balsa wood, aprox. 1 to 2 in. high painted them to use in kitchen where I have a pig theme. The craft stores have the little wood cutouts , cows, ducks, pigs. rather inexpensive just have to paint.
