After reading all the amazing results from the mayo hair mask, I'm eager to try it myself. I dye my hair regularly. Does anyone know if it's safe to use mayo on color treated hair? Would it strip the color away?

My hair is dry frizzy and extremely curly! I want it to be soft and shiny and for the frizz to go away! It's also really tangly! Any suggestions?

How do you get rid of the vinegar smell? I tried this today and my hair smells awful. I have since shampooed and conditioned my hair and it still has a nasty vinegar smell.

I have heard that egg and yogurt (normal yogurt - The one with no salt) makes your hair really cool, silky and shiny but you have to shampoo like a dozen times so the smell of egg goes off. Don't wash your hair immediately leave for an hour or so!

I've been putting olive oil in my hair and letting it sit. Makes shiny!!

I haven't tried the others suggested above. They may work better for dryness, too.

I read in one of my many teen magazines on how to get gorgeous shiny hair. So i just had to try it myself to see if it worked and it was AMAZING!!! The recipie is:

1/2 mayonaise (regular not the reduced fat)
1 egg
1 tablespoon baking SODA

Then you just blend everything together and rub into your hair and place your showercap on for half an hour.
After you rinse the mixture out, shampoo and condition your hair as usual. I use this solution once a week because my hair was extremelly damaged from flat ironing almost everyday.

Enjoy!

Mayo goes on dry hair. Cover with a plastic bag and clamp with bobby pin or clothes pin. Quickly run hairdryer around your head -DO NOT get it too HOT. This is the "heated oil treatment", so expensive in salons. When you get ready to wash out after about 5 minutes, apply shampoo directly to mayoed hair then rinse. Then shampoo as usual. This works so well. And dh assured me, I didn't smell like a roast beef sandwich. A little diluted vinegar adjusts the PH balance on hair, but can be drying.

When I was a little girl all we used for a hair rinse was vinegar. I always had super shiney hair. It really cuts the shampoo residue.

SMALL amount of Mayo used with a soft paper towel ( like Job Squad ) will clean and shine your green house plants also. I remember my mom used vinegar rinse on my hair as a child. Helped with the shine and tangles. GGVi

Using plain mayo on your hair as a conditioner works great. I usually keep generic mayo in my fridge just for my hair. There is no way that any familiy member would use it. I apply to my hair before I wash it. Just work into your scalp and hair. I use disposable shower caps that I buy at Dollar Tree. Leave the cap on for a minimum time of one half hour. I have left it on for well over an hour while I do housework. I have been lucky so far -- not having anyone pop in for a surprise visit. Rinse your hair with warm water then shampoo as usual. It really makes your hair feel soft and silky.

For shiny hair, rinse with vinegar. I don't know why, but it really works. Rinse well and you won't smell like vinegar!

well i have always wanted beautiful hair and now i have it , here is my solution- get any kind of conditioner mix a teaspoon of olive oil, 1 egg and 2 tablespoons of mayo, put in micowave for 15 seconds then pasted it to your hair for 30 min. then wash your hair with cold water make sure you get all of the egg out the egg helps get rid of split ends that NO women wants the cold water leaves in miosturizers that we need in our hair

These are also good for stripping shampoo, hair product residue and hard minerals from your water out of your hair. I do this at least once a month and it works better than buying that special shampoo to do the trick.

I have also heard that if you rub mayonnaise in your hair it works for a shine, but I have not tried this one myself.
