Kraft Foods has issued a recall in the U.S. for Baker’s Premium
White Chocolate Baking Squares (6 oz.) with a UPC Code 0043000252200 and four best when used by
dates:

This product may be contaminated with Salmonella, (a bacterium that causes foodborne illness).
Symptoms of foodborne illness caused by Salmonella include fever, diarrhea and abdominal cramps. In
persons with poor underlying health or weakened immune systems, Salmonella can invade the
bloodstream and cause life-threatening infections.
The product was distributed nationwide. Consumers should not consume the recalled product and should
discard any product they may have.
The potential for contamination was noted after testing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that
detected the presence of Salmonella in some packages of Baker’s Premium White Chocolate Baking
Squares (6 oz.). The company is aggressively investigating the source of the problem.
This recall is only for Baker’s Premium White Chocolate Baking Squares (6 oz.). No other varieties of Baker’s White Chocolate or any other Baker’s products sold in the United States are impacted by this
recall.
